Dr. Venkat Athmanathan is a Research Scientist in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. He received his PhD from Purdue University in 2021, where he developed and employed ultra-high-speed laser and optical diagnostics to study the detailed detonation physics in rotating detonation engines (RDEs), under the advisement of Prof. Terrence Meyer. As a staff scientist at Purdue University’s Zucrow Labs, Dr. Athmanathan’s work involves efforts to develop and apply diagnostics to help achieve zero-emissions energy systems as well as further the understanding of RDEs for air-breathing power generation applications.
